Inclusion

Hess has a longstanding commitment to inclusion, which we believe creates value for our stakeholders and is essential to being a socially responsible and sustainable enterprise. We want to create an exceptional work experience, which we call Life at Hess, where everyone is treated with respect so that they can perform at their best. We strive to be inclusive in how we operate every day, whether through internal business practices or with support for the communities where we operate.

Our strategy for unlocking exceptional performance focuses on people, practices and behaviors.

To enhance transparency, we track employee demographic data and publish our U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission EEO-1 Report and we report other workforce metrics, including promotions data and adjusted pay gap, in our Key Sustainability Metrics.

Externally, we have a long history of investing in communities where we operate to make a positive and lasting impact through education and work skill development, both of which are fundamental to an inclusive society and sustainable economic growth. We also source from a diverse group of suppliers and partner with our strategic suppliers to help develop and grow our supplier base.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Within Hess, our focus is on fostering an inclusive work environment in which all employees have fair and equitable opportunities to achieve their full potential. We provide equal employment opportunity to employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, veteran’s status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or any protected status in recruitment, hiring, compensation, promotion, training, assignment of work, performance evaluation and all other aspects of employment.

We protect employees and applicants from harassment, intimidation, threats, coercion and discrimination if they have engaged in or may engage in filing a complaint; assisting or participating in an investigation, hearing, compliance review, or any other activity related to the administration of applicable equal employment opportunity; or exercising any other right under applicable equal employment opportunity laws or regulations.

Pay Transparency

Hess will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant. However, employees who have access to the compensation information of other employees or applicants as a part of their essential job functions cannot disclose the pay of other employees or applicants to individuals who do not otherwise have access to compensation information, unless the disclosure is in response to a formal complaint or charge; in furtherance of an investigation, proceeding, hearing or action, including an investigation conducted by the employer; or consistent with Hess’ legal duty to furnish information.
